I totally didn’t plan on writing about tuesdays on Tuesday.
Serendipity I guess.

I have been exploring some options for tuesdays - found myself a couple of guinea pigs and thinking of taking it in a different way…more on that later, but for now just a tease of a photo.

Most of the music I heard was great. I mean I thought it sounded good, except for this guy. I regret to say he was really really bad. Almost reaching painful - he sang loud and tried hard…but not so much on the talent part. I did really love his guitar and his outfits were usually pretty flamboyant.

I feel a bit like I have two different painters in me.
One like last weeks painting, and this sort of ‘cute’ style.
I guess it is the gemini in me.
Any thoughts?

One of my favorite things about the N/R 23rd street stop is a different hat representing a famous and iconic person. I wait by Eleanor Roosevelt’s hat when I am headed home. But I love the moments like the one above…

When I first moved to nyc this was the train line I road and also my stop for work in the morning.

The way paint swirls thrills me.

Watching PBS. I happened upon the most amazing show. A real life Gosford Park. A truthful Manor House. A series - Windsor Castle - A Royal Year. Jobs I never even imagined. (A Castle Flagman - his job is to raise the flag when the queen arrives at Windsor and takes it down when she leaves.) People who take their job so seriously. And do it serving the queen. It is so foreign and amazing to me. Like: A man whose job it is to light all the fires in the castle. The men who take care of the furniture - dusting and repairing. I wish I had started writing down their titles as I watched, long titles for amazing and specific jobs. Inspiring.

The paintings for friday are back.
I know that you have missed them terribly.
I took some time off for the holidays, not like Lisa who has been amazing at getting her drawing-a-day’s done. They are so lovely if you haven’t seen them yet. After I took time off, I changed positions at work, got slammed with Fashion Week and tried to sew my little hands out for the Love4Sale event last weekend.
Which couldn’t have been a better introduction to fairs. The women that surrounded me where amazing.

Across from me was Jane (one of my trade friends) and Karla of Slope Suds. Delicious products. Really tasty items.
On my right was two wonderful ladies - Alice & Kristin- with jewelry (only Kristin has a website that is up).
On my left was the lovely Kristen Aronsson.
Her shoes.
Amazing.
Plus she had these amazing bags that felt like butter.
And the equally lovely Angie with her simple and bold jewelry, whom I traded with but she doesn’t have a website. (hopefully yet)

I was lucky enough to make a couple of trades.
I LOVE trades.
I am able to get things for myself that I would normally never buy.
I would love, but not ever allow myself to buy.
Firstly I got an amazing skirt from Kathy the brains behind the event. Her son picked out one of the inside out penguins and I got this lovely skirt.

People started showing up late in the afternoon and the wonderfuly talented Aurora put me into the black. What a truely amazing and talented countess.
Then as the sale winded down (it never really winded up - threat of a blizzard can do that).
The trades started to fly. And I snapped up two more.
First was with the hilarious Jane of Foxy & Winston. She got one of the sad-eyed little penguins (she named him Percival) and I got some great notecards. Lovely lovely.

Then I traded with Angie a beautiful coral necklace from her new line.

Oh goodness. She doesn’t have a website but I think she’ll be at Renegade in Brooklyn this year. Angie brought home Gordon & Sid (see the previous post).

I have quite a few left and wondered if people were interested in buying them. I’ll put up photos up soon. Send me an email if you’d like to be notified when that happens. wendyATgreengirlartDOTcom.

There is art talk flying around the internet. Mav had an amazing three-part discussion about what is art and Lisa started asking about talent. I am sort of interested in people’s brain process.

I have realized that process for me is sort of long term (relativity). I let an idea germinate in the recesses of my brain. Every once in a while it’ll sort of pop up to the surface and then I think on it a bit, but then I consciously push it back to this little soil area in my brain. But then it just unfurls. Does anyone else have that? Do that?

The flip side is that when I am busy, like I have been with all the work at work and with all the softies I needed done. Those ideas didn’t pop up at all.

Now I have some things percolating with softie ideas. Ideas that played out in a completely different way than when I planted them in the soil. It excites me to put an idea in my little greenhouse and see how it plays out.

Well I think technically it can’t be called a blizzard because the winds weren’t quite fast enough.
The snow is deep and white.
For now.

Love 4 Sale was amazing. Sales were slow, but the people were amazing (I will share later). I am still processing the fact that I don’t have to sew madly for a while.

The snow (aka the blizzard) isn’t supposed to start until after four pm today, which means you can still stop by and see the Love 4 Sale show at the Old Stone House. The place is soooo so cute. Warm and lovely inside. You can take the R or F train to 9th street & 4th avenue in Brooklyn. You’ll be warm and cozy and you’ll have a nice treat before the snow hits tonight. You can cuddle up with one of my softies tomorrow when the snow is impassible.

My cages turned into baskets and I am almost done with the finishing touches. But there is going to be so many amazing things there!! Jewelry, Clothes, Chocolate, Paper goods, fancy knickers…and I am sure there is more, but not everyone was setting up last night.

A first look at them in the cages, totally inspired by these cagelets!

The sketch above is an idea from a challenge laid down by one half of the la power couple. (more about that another day) I have been having my own personal competition with winter. Now I know Mother Nature is not someone you usually want to compete with but I am doing it. I haven't bought a winter coat. My old coat didn't make the move, it was ratty and falling apart. When winter hit, I hadn't bought a coat. Then much to the chagrin of the Boy I still haven't gotten a coat. You are welcome to chastise, the Boy would appreciate the support. It is not because of not trying. I actually made a huge (well huge for me) effort and went to stores Monday night. And nothing. Everyone has all the spring lines and I can't even find the winter sale coats. But I did find this beautiful dress. I would never wear it. I would dream about wearing it, but it would sit (or rather hang) in my closet. I have never been the girl that was dressed elegantly. I was a jock in high school and didn't really have time for the girly clothes. Then in college, who knew what I was thinking. Casual is what I was thinking. Easy to clean and wear. Now I work at a painting studio where everything I wear has a chance to get a bit of paint on it. No matter how careful you are. There is a girl inside though that wants the pretty dresses. That dreams about skirts like this. Even these simple lovely skirts, that I can make myself. A fashion week update. We made it. Anna Sui goes out this morning, but all the other backdrops for the shows are done! All that work for such a short period of time. It really is amazing. Oh and I have 33 birds in the works. 10 totally and completely done. 11 that just need their bottoms sewn on. 12 that need to be stuffed. Does that seem like enough? I mean it is going to have to be considering that I need to now make and design my table for the show. But does it seem like enough?
