rosa502.jpg

I was able to snatch up one of Rosa’s lovely creations.
Oh I love love her, little number 502.
She feels so soft and lovely. And she is made so delicately.
I love it. Totally makes me want to step up my game!

So this guy needs some more work.
A little stand - so he’ll stand on his own.
And the body still needs some work.
But I am pretty happy with him.

The Boy named him Sparky.
He stands (well woobles) at seventeen inches.
His body is about five & a half inches.

I followed these guys. I have heard them before, so I was glad when I saw them waiting to get on the 7 train.

They got on another car, so I captured this moment.

Then they came to my car and played right near me. They are really great. Spanish music on a classical guitar. Lovely.

I think this switch was for me, I have never seen them do this before. But the tall guy has such a sweet smile.

…painting for friday #16 (a challenge)…

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

I know this site is called greengirlart but I never really paid attention to how attracted I am to the color green until I named myself. The name actually comes from a Scottish fairytale I read as a child called “the greyhound and the green girl” (I guess that is when the green started - when I was little sprout). I think I know I read it in a book at my grandparents. I thought it was from one of Andrew Lang’s books. But no luck. If anyone knows….

Therefore when I was walking home the other night the Empire State Building was blue and green (lovely corporate philanthropy day). I thought “that would be a great color for the painting I am working on”.
And then two seconds later it hit me.

I am totally addicted to green.
Can you be addicted to color?

All of the first paintings I have green. Whenever I am choosing paint colors I always grab green. Always. Now don’t think I like all green because I don’t. I really don’t prefer the yellow ones - I like my green on the blue end of the scale. This constantly surprises me.

This painting is a little different from the others in that is was a challenge.
A challenge laid upon me by someone else.
The writer half of the power couple sent an email challenge to the Boy and I. I was to paint something and the Boy was to write and record a song (he isn’t quite done yet). All we got was these lines - aren’t they beautiful!

“I love you, she said
Like pigeon’s breath
Barely there.”

Working on all of these small projects right now. Juggling a lot of balls in the air. Maybe too many because I feel like sliding down the jar of honey (perfect description from lisa).

*brand new soft creation - another bird (still a little secret)
*brand new passport
(spent the entire weekend going through everything I own - lost in my apartment - does anyone else do that?)
*another soft creation - this time it is a girl (working out the protype)
*tuesdays - I am going to try something new
*get my butt to the post office

I applied to be in renegade so I waiting to see if I get in until I put the penguins and owls up for sale, but I’ll leave you with another photo of the birds in a box after the show.

(there is another one of these on flickr)

Acutally at work we are cleaning up still after the mad rush of fashion week.
Buckets to clean.
Items to find their way back home.
And backdrops and more backdrops to be checked in.
