color week - brown…

on our way to a wedding

I have been so in my brain lately.
contemplating, thinking, and coming up short.
but really it is all in my mind.
I decided I need to do more.
HURL myself back into life.
And dream bigger.
I don't think my dreams are big enough.
I think have lost sight of them along the way…
Lost the pure voice of my little girl.

coral at laughing bird island

I don't know if this is cheating, by using a holiday photo, but it is hard to post a color a day for the week without a digital camera.  So I may post two whites today, after I get my film developed…

play along with stephanie and the girls at port2port!

to do for Renegade:
Johanna is here!
have to attach the long birds to their bases (well the boy does at least)
have about 10 bottoms left to sew on
need to get my images ready to make into postcard prints
need some photos of it all

I can taste being done!

I put a couple more photos of belize on flickr.

wake up early…

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

The second day I was in Belize I woke up early and then stepped outside to this view.
Like I had stepped into heaven.
I love everyone's thoughts on elements.
I think I may be a bit strange in my pull to one element, whereas there are more people that a connected to multiple elements.  I had always thought that people had one strong pull, but I guess that is just me.

I loved this little piece of water having the light shine down and make it glow.

elements…

I was thinking about elements and how we are connected to them on my vacation.
A Lot.
Water would have to be my element…it centers and settles me.
The color is so changeable. Even the same water at different times of the day can change moods. Early when we left to go snorkeling the water was like a sparkling jewel all shiny and eager to please. Then as we came back hours later the water became something more akin to green and a bit flatter. It better reflected the heat of the afternoon. But regardless of how water is or if it feels calm or angry or all the things in between. I love water and it centers my soul. I know others have different elements…earth, fire or air as opposed to water.  Or not opposed so much as connected to another element. Or more then one element.

My guesses about people:

The Boy:  I think he is connected to more than one of the elements. A bit of water, a bit of earth and a bit of fire. Although nothing can make him more off balance than air…something about flying unsettles him for days.

The dad: Is definitely air. I think he finds exhilaration in the air – especially if he is the one doing the flying.

johanna – is water as well, but I think there are some earth with tree leanings

lisa s. – I would guess water, but I would also say she is connected to more than one of the elements…maybe all

mav – I would have to guess that she is connected to more than one element like the Boy.  water, earth (an affinity for trees), air – all of her plane and cloud photos.

lisa c. – water is pretty strong I mean she draws ships all the time (plus there is that little swimming hobby she has), but I think there is an earth bent with her attraction to trees

patricia – earth – leaning towards mountains and trees

I would love to know what you think. If I am correct with my guesses. Is there an element that grounds you…makes you return to center?
