carousel & candy

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Went to this amazing letterpress sale and was wondering around Dumbo with Anne when we happened upon Jane's carousel. My friend Saralee has been working on the restoration, but seeing the piece in person was probably the hidden gem of the day. Anne and I were quite excited about the whole thing.
My film is still being developed but I have these polaroids to share…

*Have a GREAT Friday the 13th!!

::a moment…
I walked behind a girl yesterday on the way home, a girl that walked past me the day before.  And her walk was different. The day before she stomped by me so hard her personal space knocked me aside. But today I passed her.  She was wearing the same shoes…but she strolled.  Well not really strolled but she seemed quite wrapped up in her thoughts…and I wondered if our walk changes to reflect moods…

americana

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

Yesterday the Boy and I started talking about hayrides. What is a hayride and why do you take it? And I got to thinking all of the things the Boy has missed out on. (he was born in another country and is first generation…so things like hay rides are so foreign to him) Things you did as a family in the united states. I need to make a list of things that I have taken for granted that I grew up just knowing. Like hay rides and camping. (that is as far as I got on my list) So I again call on you awesome blogger to help me with my ‘americana’ list. Things that the Boy and I are going to have to do through out our lives. (He is not looking forward to the camping thing – so if you know why it is fun to sleep on the ground and pee in the forest? Let him know)

Also please still vote for the banner…it is pretty close so I will tally the votes on friday. (thank you for all your thoughts)

feeling like fall

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

I am not the keeper. I don't have any collections really, my mom on the other hand…is a pack rat. In this instance I was glad, because trixie is sniffing out my samsonite suitcase I had as a child. I traveled tons. My parents divorced when I was only one and I started flying back and forth on my own when I was probably six or seven, seasoned traveler by ten. But not only did she have my suitcase, but my brownie (girl scouts was from age 6 to 8) uniform. It is so little…I might fit me as a shirt, and I am glad to have it. I don’t really remember brownies…the cookies, I remember the cookies. What do you remember about brownies?

Trying to pick my fall banner taken with abee in her flower district

silver strings
20" x 10"

:: a moment…
I passed by a man today that had such a scowl that I almost flinched, but instead when I looked up again I smiled and his eyes spoke with kindness and surprise when he smiled back,
or maybe those were my eyes.
