word 4 of 30

scintillescent (approx 4" x 5")
gouache on board

abee gave me this word…
scintillescent…
feels a bit like a party, a bubbly word, it even looks like there is so much going on with the letters. It bounces and rolls around in your mouth as you say it, much like the pop rocks of childhood (or the ones I bought from the store last week).

I used one of mav's twinkle postcards & was inspired by my image from a photowalk with abee herself. bringing this word full circle.

{liz did a beautiful write-up on year of beds and I am finally picking up more proscessed film today}

slowness (approx 4" x 5")
gouache on board

I figured slowness was a perfect word next, considering how slow these words have been coming. Or rather how slow I have been to paint them.

Word number 3 was given to me by daphne. I love her rings!

Speaking of slowness…I can spend lots of time playing on this site. I love how his brain works. The interaction you get from his creations.

she is a sweet little weltaflex…isn't she pretty?

She needs a bit more clean up, but I ran some film through and I like the effect. At the prompting of lisa s and gwen I am doing a year of beds. The light coming into my bedroom is fantastic…it creates different moods depending on the time of day. I take the photo after the last person (usually the Boy) is out of the bed. So sometime it is early in the morning and other times it is in the early afternoon. I never make the bed, but the Boy does, so if he gets in there before I take the photo the bed gets made.
I may be a little mia because later this afternoon I am picking up one of my younger brothers from the airport. He has been in Japan; he is a bit of a traveler. I am excited to see how his experience in Japan was.

new music

I feel a little like Ragni's album is a fairy tale come to life. But old school fairy tales where things didn't always turn out quite right in the end. (those were my favorite) They did the album with a graphic novel illustrated by Karl Kerschl. The images and music compliment each other in a simple, quite and lovely way. (found via drawn!)

I have been thinking about another series after I finish out the remainder of the circus images that are either floating around in my head or have made their way to sketch form. {I need to get some of these images out of my head. Maybe that is another reason I feel so off balance. Their are too many images floating in my head…I wonder.} I think Ragni's music is the perfect companion to the idea. It is based around this painting.

But first the words…

I am feeling like I can't get my feet. Every time I feel like I am settling in something I get knocked back. I keep falling down to get back up, eventually I know the falling will happen less often, but to make myself feel a little better I made my favorite cookies. It is a chocolate cookie that you make on the stove…easy and quite satisfactory.

made me smile in spite of myself::
a father and daughter matched. he wore green madras shorts with a burnt red plaid shirt…she wore a green flippy skirt with awesome layered green knee-high socks and a burnt red zip up hoodie.

new for me

The old stove in our new apartment. I love the color…bought this teapot and didn't even plan that they matched. We had to buy a fridge for the new apartment, probably one of the most adult things I have done so far in my life. One of these fridges would have been a perfect fit!

I have been making a lot of tea lately. I am trying to fight off a cold. Or rather I am just trying to ride it out. The only good thing is even though I feel sick I have been trying to clean and pick up. Which in my world can only mean I am getting ready to paint. Getting ready to get back to those words that are bouncing around in my head.
