These shots are from probably my first half dozen rolls. Before I was getting them scanned to a disk. Top photo is from the lower east side, don't even know if the store exists any longer since things change so rapidly down there now, but I loved the old world feel.
The other two photos are from when I was working at Oliphant.
The middle photo is looking out into central park while a storm is rolling in and the last one is looking down fifth avenue.
We had a job in The Plaza, which was closing at the time for a major overhaul {it is actually opening its doors again on March 1}. It was awesome and spooky to be there. We were on the top floors, so it was mostly safe {meaning not too much had been looted}, but most of the place was trashed. There were mountains of coat hangers in these huge closets. There were tags from from either Christie's or Sotheby's on chandeliers and fancy sinks. Rooms of maid's outfits that people were buying. The lights weren't all on…so the place felt a bit abandoned. Most of the photos I took with the Holga that day are way to dark to be printed by anyone but myself, so I can dodge and burn the hallways to life. One day I'll tackle that, because I feel really lucky to have been there in The Plaza at that time, and I'd really like to see them.
