I think he needs a cape.
I talked about him before, but I think his work is beyond fabulous.
Its brilliant.
Watch this video and you'll begin to understand.

bon nuit, my sweet

Monday, November 10th, 2008

a little corner

"Bon Nuit, My Sweet"…It opens Friday November 14th.
For all of you in LA I would love to see you there.
I will be showing with Karen Locke, Jerome Prieur {I saw some of his pieces when I was dropping off and his line work is beyond amazing - the details - wow} & Thea Mohr Saks. I am excited to be showing alongside these artists.

Francesca one of the 3bayBchicks tagged me for 15 things I am not afraid to admit. I figured I'd write about getting ready for this show.

1. I have been painting during nap times & at night after the little one goes down for bed.

2. I could not have done it without the Boy, he has kept me on track & honest.
Sometimes I really did not like him for it, but that was usually when he was right.

3. I am a really big fan of the oxide {red & violet} and cobalt {blue & green} colors.

4. Looking back I am not sure how I did it all, but I guess when you look at the house you can see what fell through the cracks, there is a major cleaning coming soon.

5. My email is getting out of control.

6. Feeding time with the little one was a great time to let the ideas jump around in my head like a bunch of popcorn.

7. At the end of it all I painted 18 pieces in total. 13 that you can find with Cella & 2 that sold in Charmingwall's tiny BIG top show. 3 were finished, then scrapped.

8. The first couple pieces feel like they were painted ages ago.

9. I sort of can't believe that I managed.

10. I am really proud of the work I produced.

12. Cella Gallery is beyond wonderful. I love those girls.

13. I am excited to see how the show is going to be in the gallery space.

14. While I was pregnant I didn't even want to lift a pencil, much less draw anything. It was like a creative void, but I did create a pretty spectacular little boy, so I take that back, it was a massively creative time.

15. The Boy and I found the gallery through our stomachs, there is a great hotdog place right next door that a friend recommended. We went into the gallery after and fell in love with the space.

tiny BIG top

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

I have a couple trapeze girl paintings in a group show that opens this Friday November 1 in NYC at Charmingwall.
The show should be great 15 artists, over 30 pieces of work.

Also I am so close to finishing all my pieces for the Bon Nuit, My Sweet show that opens here in LA on November 14th. I sort of can't believe how much painting I have done over the past two months. whew. Its been really quite awesome. The house is a disaster, but the paintings awesome.

alright so I haven't posted in forever, but I am working hard.

a little bit about clubs

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

so my seven random things tagged to me by keri…a little different, cause I am going to do seven random clubs that I have at one time or another joined or I would love to join…
{I love getting that sort expected unexpected prize in the mail - does that make any sense?}

for example I belong right now to a pickle club & a card society

I used to belong to a font club

A friend told me about an olive oil club & I found a couple online

I really wish that T would start a beer club.

A dream about this community supported pie thanks to shari

And you can join a new quarterly art subscription with littlebird gallery…so cool
12 pieces of art throughout the year from emerging artist…sign up, 'cause space is limited!

wow I do really like clubs…are there other 'clubs' out there that I should know about?

on a completely different note here's the final image of 'ferry'

test

bare - wall test
20" x 40"

when I am done painting, I like to test it on the wall.
to see how it feels, if anything is missing, if it works for me hanging.
I guess for people that paint on an easel its not really necessary, but I paint flat,
usually on the ground, so I need to step back and hang it on the wall.
I think there might be a couple small things I want to tweek.
{in the bottom corner you can see the next one I am working…}

passage
20" x 40"

I am madly painting while the little one sleeps, because I have a couple shows coming down the pipe. It'll be a bit of a race against time, but I have all sorts of ideas pouring out, so all that time I spent feeling uncreative, the well was just getting filled.
Posting will probably be willy-nilly, but I'll try and show little peaks. And as things get closer I'll let you know when and where the shows are going to happen.
{If you want to be on my mailing list, just email me at wendy@greengirlart.com}

hope you last days of summer are lovely

re-working

Monday, March 24th, 2008

first of all…no baby yet, but crossing our fingers for soon.
{wednesday is our due date}

to pass the time I have been re-working some older painting.
the first one for an auction for an auction in San Luis Obispo for the Cal Poly art department.

this is what it looks like now & what it looked like then.
{she is more realistic & a bit more blue & I made it a little smaller- it was 36" x 24" & now it is 20" x 30"}

I am going to be doing a small series of water girls…something that I can work at on my desk instead of larger canvases for awhile.

my fluffy helper…

I also reworked an older painting for the babies room.

then it was a much larger painting, but the personalities of the geese were my favorite part,
so I made it 10" x 30" instead of 30" x 30" to highlight the geese.
{I love the the guy in the center, while the boy is a fan of the second one from the right}

Hopefully the next post will be the information on the birth of the little one. Fingers crossed everyone!
