holiday cheer

this was at my grandpa's house, this ancient sleigh with ancient toys. I think one of the horses in the front had to get some repair done on his leg (when the sleigh moved to my dad's house) or maybe it was one of the wheels, regardless this says warm christmas to me.

this was the first year I got to help with the candy. wrapping them in tissue paper and hanging them on the tree. (I felt like such an adult - in a really good way)

In this house you hang the candy, then the lights, then the ornaments. that way you have to search to find the pieces of candy through out the tree. it is an extra christmas treat.

tree by the light of morning.
everyone have a very happy holiday…I'll be back some time next week.

They are not horses but elk made out to be reindeer. My first memories of this was at my grandmothers house (your great grandmother). The elk are probably 60 years old and Grandpa Bill had tried to “plaster” the broken legs. The sleigh adapted from a carriage that was what they called a radio lamp and I am going to guess it is 75 to 80 years old. This family tradition has made Christmas memories for your grandfather and me…glad to see it works on you too!

And a HAPPY HOLIDAY to you too, Wendy. I love the idea of trying to find candy hidden deep in the tree branches protected by a layer of ornaments and a string of lights.
take care, g
