journal ponderings
Does anyone feel tentative and hesitant when beginning a new journal. My journal is…a lists of things to do intermixed with ideas, images I have cut out from magazines and sketches. But I find that when I do start a new journal it takes awhile. It is the same with ending…like I don’t know if my beginning or end will be worthy, but eventually I do and I have…new journal got some ink today.
No painting this week, I can't believe friday is already here, but check this out:
Hippily Bunny is too amazing for words (from mahar drygoods) and wait for a funny outtake at the end.
I am taking a quick girls only trip next week, I little road trip and little hanging out. Only next week would work with work, so I leave tomorrow and I'll be back in a little over a week!

Yup, those first five odd, new, shiny and frightfully blank pages are always the worst. Somewhere in the middle you find your rhythm… and then when there are a handful of ratty pages at the end you are filled with the desire to start a new one because it’s almost finished. Who knew the middle could be so rewarding a spot to be.
Have a great trip! g

blank pages are unusually intimidating to me - my first few pages usually end up being ripped out (i am a shameful editor) until i find the groove….
oooooo - girls only trip - FUN! safe and happy travels!

i’m right there with you. it is SO hard to start a new journal. those blank pages just sit there and taunt you so i usually go back to one that still has a few empty pages left. i should just jump in though. xo shari

i have a collection of more than 6 journal books. i have a habit of just filling them up halfway…maybe because i never really wanted to finish the whole journal books, because i will feel a kind of lost and its always difficult to start a new one again….in the meantime, i be still adding new one to my collection.

i guess
i am
the only one
that loves
starting
a new journal
with all those
lovely blank
pages…
but filling it
up all the way
through-
that’s my
issue-
fyjs
(filling
your journal
syndrome).
that’s why
i have
like 100
1/3-filled
journal books!
thanks
for
the great link
to
Hippily Bunny!

oh yes, i am the same..what to have on the first page? will it influence the rest of the journal? what kind of style am I going for?…
July 9th, 2006 at 5:45 pm
yes, yes, yes! i feel the same way about a new journal. i always leave the first page blank (just something i do) but man, that first entry–staring at all that blank space. it’s tough.
girls trip! sounds grand! hope you have a marvelous time!

gracia - I guess it is that whole…”journey” thing…still a bit scary
ky - I used to edit much more than I do now…I have gotten better at accepting what I consider my mistakes
shari - its hard to jump in…I start to carry it around with me a little before the other journal is complete…
lisa - I am bummed I didn’t get a chance to see you this time!
shanna - yeah that hipply bunny, I think what kills me is her voice, so much a child’s but she seems so sure at the same time!
sputnik - thanks for stopping by, I used to have trouble finishing, but now it is really about starting…
bugheart - I guess it is one or the other, maybe?
julie - wow you really think about it, love that!
michelle - had a fantastic time, so glad it is just not me…I have to put something on that first page, usually something I tear out of a magazine…
jenifer - next time!
alicia - glad I got to see the shop before it closed, it was a pleasure to meet you!
